THE PLANETARIUM
The dome was finally completed in October. We had a new water-tight dome cover, the lighting and air conditioning were working and the inner walls of the dome were lined with elephant grass matting. The interior surface of the dome ceiling was lined with sections of hardboard, and painted with a special paint. Suitable seating still had to be found.
Some of our very first visitors. Stanley Acquaye was our first planetarium operator.
The pictures show the first visits by children, seen here studying the astronomy posters in the summer hut. They came up with some interesting questions about astronomy.
